LOVESTRUCKS 2010 theme has been announced: La Masquerade Blanche!

So what is an event without a theme? Sometimes a theme is just a colour, sometimes it’s a mood…Themed events have been around…well since there have been events, from Luau birthday parties, to Hollywood themed weddings, themes are just fun! And for the 4th year in a row…we were faced with the task of brainstorming LOVESTRUCKS latest theme!

For this years show, We wanted to come up with a theme that was unique to the city…one that had not been done in the bridal show market before…So the LOVESTRUCK team and I started brainstorming colours almost as soon as 2009’s show had ended…and we loved the idea of an all white event almost immediatley…something about it just makes me swoon!  It must be my love of texture, because with a monochromatic colour scheme…the use of texture is key! Feather, fur, crystal, fabric and floral…layers of texture….white on white on white…so it was settled, We had chosen a colour palette!

But something was missing!!!! White alone was not enough to seal the deal, …it had to be something amazing…something fun, something elegant…Something we could have fun with, something subtle, yet interesting…and then it hit me! A Masquerade…Each and every New years eve for the past 4 years I have been wanting to plan a masquerade for my friends and family, But not your typical masquerade …I wanted to plan one of those 18th century, extremely formal masquerades, Think Marie Antoinette, french fashion…where women were elegant and men were gentlemen, Where guests would dance the night away, where you could be anyone behind your mask, and anything was possible…But alas one thing or another had stood in my way, work, vacations, previously planned events….

But this year will be different, this is the year I will get my masquerade, with an all white modern twist on an dramatic and sexy theme…and now you are all invited!

My assistant Chelsey worked on this mood board and did a magnificent job! We just love the soft romantic tone, and amazing ornate details…if you work with a mood board like this…your wedding is sure to turn heads!

We did this wedding last year and just loved how it all came together! The couple was just adorable…and the wedding was magnificent. We worked with the talented Darlene Jackson of Bouquets floral and Upright Decor and completely transformed the Vancouver Art Gallery! What a stunner…this wedding was also featured in Wedluxe magazine and was shot by the fabulous Leanne Pedersen (one of my favourite photographers!) Enjoy

Just saw this great website…a wedding registry where you ask for wishes…not stuff! Basically you sign on and create your wish list, could be things like: renovating our bathroom – asking for 10 x $100 donations, or our honeymoon fund, asking for 20 x $100 donations…you can direct your guests to your very own wishes wedsite where they can then find a list of things you are saving for…and they can choose what they want you to put the moola towards! So we have been making mood boards for our clients for the past 7 years…we are finding that they are becoming hugely popular right now…due to my interior design training I used to make my mood board on presentation boards for the first 3 years in business…WOW that was SO much more work, They came complete with fabric swatches and sample materials, thank goodness for technology! Digital mood boards take 1/10th the time…and are a lot more fun to create…

We have not posted any to our site, or blog, they were mearly functional, but they are really pretty!…I am thinking it might be a great inspirational idea to post one a week! We have a huge library so let’s get started….Enjoy!
